Sad movies always make me cry He said he had to work, so I went to the show alone. They turned down the lights and turned the projector on. Just as the news of the world started to begin, I saw my darling and my best friend walking in. Though I was sitting there they didn"t see. So they sat right down in front of me. When he kissed her lips I almost died. And in the middle of the color cartoon I started to cry. Oh, sad movies always make me cry. Oh, sad movies always make me cry. So I got up and slowly I walked on home, And Mama saw the tears and said "What"s wrong". So to keep from telling her a lie ,I just said "Sad movies make me cry". Oh, sad movies always make me cry. Sad Movie 는 1960년대 초반 우리에게 팝이 무엇인가를 알려줬던 노래이다.
John D. Loudermilk 가 작곡하고, Sue Thompson 이 노래를 불렀다.

1961년 10월 미국 팝챠트(Pop Chart)의 상위권(5위)에 진입하게 되고,

레코드 판매량 백만장을 넘어서는 기록을 낳게 된 이 노래는 순수하고 솔직한 내용의 노래이다.

팝을 아는 사람이라면 이 곡을 모르는 사람이 없을 정도로

 우리나라에서도 많은 사랑을 받은 이 추억의 노래는

 2000년에는 이미연이 주연한 물고기자리 라는 영화의  O.S.T 로도 삽입되었다.

이 Sad Movie 는 ABBA 도 불렀고,

 보컬그룹 Lennon Sisters 도  불렀다.
국내에서도 많은 가수들이 Sad Movie 를 우리말로 번역하거나 번안곡으로 불렀다.
그 중에서 보컬그룹인 정시스터즈 와 이시스터즈가 번안하여 부른 노래가 오랫동안 크게 유행하였다
